Resize and Create Partitions with Partition Magic 8
This article tells you how to resize a partition, using the Partition Magic software. This creates another partition, which can be useful for backups.

Steps
- Open Partition Magic.
- Right-click on the drive you wish to partition.
- Select Resize / Move on the drop-down menu.
- Press the up/down arrow to increase/decrease the free space.... You can also Drag the slider until the required size is reached, "Fine Tuning" with the up/down arrows if you require an exact size.
- Go to General > Apply Changes.
- Restart, if need be. (On restarting, Windows XP may immediately display a "New Hardware Found", "Generic Volume" message and require yet another restart.
- Reopen Partition Magic.
- Right-click on the unallocated space that you tagged off of the partition.
- Go to Create Partition on the drop-down menu.
- Apply changes when you are finished.
Tips
- Check and repair errors in partitions before partitioning disk.
- Don't be hasty with your decisions.
- Save your non-program associated files on your non OS Partition. This way, if you need to format your Windows partition, you won't lose everything.
Warnings
- Do not delete a partition with data on it. All of your data will be lost.
