Safely Shred Important Papers
If you need to shred important things such as letters, Locate Bad Credit Credit Cards, medical info, etc., then you can easily do so following the steps here.
Steps
- Put the paper(s) through a shredder or cut them up with a pair of scissors.
- Repeat step 1, placing the remains at a different angle, so that the remains become slightly smaller.
- Dispose of contents in a disposable bag, and tightly tie it.
- For extra protection, fill the bag with water to further disfigure the papers.
- Throw the bag in a trash receptacle or a recycle box.
- Finished.
Tips
- Shredders are much better. If you don't have a shredder and don't want to go out and buy a big expensive mechanical shredder, you should at least get a hand shredder.
- Putting the paper in separate bags helps as well.
- If in the UK, check that your local council will accept shredded paper in recycle bins as some may not
- Shredders can be picked up quite cheaply these days. The best to invest in is a cross shredder which will cut in two directions removing the need to re-shred
- Repeat step 2 as many times as you like.
Warnings
- Don't get your fingers caught in the shredder.
- Don't cut yourself!
- Parental supervision is important. Don't let your children use the shredder alone!
