Save a Fortune on Agreements and Contracts
Almost everybody has to deal with contracts and agreements in their adult life. Being it employment, leases, rental, sales, marriage (and divorce), etc - at some point we have to sign on the dotted line.
If in business, the list grows even longer.
As soon as we have to have something 'checked' by a lawyer or solicitor - well - it becomes rather expensive. Here are some simple steps to keep costs down.
Steps
- Search for 'Contract Checking Service' in any established search engine.
- If your contract or agreement is for a student and/or 'student accommodation' related, look out for the relevant university. Almost all universities (UK only) offer a free service for their students via their websites.
- Any other contracts, incl business - see Step 1. Note: Contract checking services are ONLY checking/amending contracts and agreements - they do not draft/create. Meaning: You have to find/download a 'template' via the Internet and fill in your relevant details. See *Tips* below for further instructions.
- Once decided which contract checking service is best for your purpose, let them do the work. Prices are usually not more than $100/£50 or equivalent in relevant currencies. A lot less than a solicitor's or law practice which can easily go up to 1000s.
Tips
- Different countries have different laws. Check that you choose a service provider for your country - i.e. *.com (US) - *.co.uk (UK) and so on.
- Most contract checking services have links to free or low cost contract template websites. Some offer free templates on their sites.
