Say "Yes" and "No" in Mandarin
The words "yes" and "no" are very important words in any language that are entirely necessary to know. This is a guide on how to say "yes" and "no" in Mandarin Chinese.
Steps
- Understand that there is no exact word for yes. To say yes, you repeat the verb said to you. So if someone asks," Ni Yao Kafai Ma?" (Translation: Do you want coffee?), you would say "Yao, xie xie." (Translation: Yes, thank you.)
- Understand that to say no, you must add the word "Bu" in front. So if someone were to say," Ni Yao Kafai Ma?", you would say," Bu yao, xie xie." (Translation: No, thank you.) The direct translation would be "no want, thanks".
