Set Up a Super Nintendo

The Super Nintendo, also known as the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) is a 16 Bit console, released in North America in 1991, and is considered Nintendo's best graphics for their 2D console, with the Nintendo 64 marking the beginning of Nintendo's 3D era, which is still happening today.

Steps

  1. Set the console in its position. Place it on a table or a clean floor, away from other objects to allow proper ventilation.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into the unit. From there, plug the AC adapter into an outlet. To protect your SNES, use a surge protector instead of plugging it straight into a wall outlet.
  3. Hook up the SNES to the television.
    • If you are using the RF Adaptor that came with the system, plug it into the system and screw the other part into the TV. Some newer television models may not have an RF jack, however.
    • If you are using a modern RCA Cable, plug it into the console and match all the colors on the TV or VCR/DVD Player.
  4. Plug in the controllers. The system only has two controller slots, but if you plug in multitaps into each slot, you can play with up to 8 players depending on the game being played.
  5. Pop in a game cartridge. Gently push the cartridge in, with the game label facing the power switch, until you hear it click.

Tips

  • The RCA cable for the Super Nintendo will also work with the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo Gamecube.

Warnings

  • Use the power cords officially licensed from Nintendo for use of supplying power to the Super Nintendo to avoid damaging the system, or risk of fire.
