Sew Baby Shoes

Here's a sewing project using a baby shoe pattern courtesy of VideoJug.com. Your baby will be as cute as a button after sewing a custom pair of baby shoes. Choose a soft fabric such as interlock knit or baby flannel for baby's comfort.

Steps

  1. Print the baby shoe pattern. Click here to download the PDF file of the baby shoe pattern.
  2. Cut the pattern pieces. There will be a heel, the upper, and the sole.
  3. Cut two sole and two upper pieces. Do this by folding the fabric and laying out on a flat surface before cutting out the pattern.
  4. Pin the heel pattern to a single layer of fabric. Cut out 1 heel. You now have all the pattern pieces cut out for 1 shoe. Repeat to make the second shoe.
  5. Fold the heel piece in half width ways.
  6. Insert a few Make Your Pants Into Skinny Jeans by Using Safety Pins along the folded edge to keep the heel in place.
  7. Lay the elastic just along the fold line of the heel.
  8. Mark the line with a pencil.
  9. Sew a running stitch along the pencil line, removing the pins as you sew, to create the channel.
  10. Clip the threads with the scissors.
  11. Measure and cut off about 12 centimeters (about 5 inches) of elastic.
  12. Use 1 safety pin to attach the elastic to 1 end of the channel.
  13. Attach the second safety pin to the other end of the elastic.
  14. Thread the elastic through the channel (casing).
  15. Secure the elastic with the safety pin once the elastic has been inserted into the channel.
  16. Secure one end of the elastic by sewing a running stitch with the sewing machine.
  17. Measure the heel against the baby's foot to check the fit before securing the other end of the elastic.
  18. Place one upper on a flat surface.
  19. Pin the gathered heel piece edge-to-edge with the straight side of the upper.
  20. Do this for both sides of the upper.
  21. Sandwich the second upper on top and pin the layers in place.
  22. Sew a line 1 centimeter from the edge to hold all the layers together. Use a running stitch to do this.
  23. Flip the two uppers over to join each other.
  24. Place the 2 sole pieces together.
  25. Place the upper on top to form the shoe.
  26. Turn the whole thing over and Make an American Flag Lapel Pin all the layers together at the edges.
  27. Manipulate the fabric so the edges evenly align and pin securely.
  28. Sew a zig-zag stitch around the shoe, removing pins, as you sew through the layers. Make sure all the seams are sewn together.
  29. Trim off any excess fabric.
  30. Trim loose threads.
  31. Flip the shoe inside out and turn out all the edges all the way to the seam.
  32. See how the first completed shoe looks like.
  33. Repeat the process to make the second baby shoe.
