Steer an Airplane

Steering an airplane is quite easy. But you may have to go under extensive steps Here is how to steer.

Steps

  1. Practice steering on a flight simulator in your computer before flying in real life. There are many flight simulator programs you can download from the web such as Flight Gear or Microsoft Flight Simulator.
  2. If you feel you have practiced enough, you may now fly and steer an airplane, with the help of a flight instructor.
  3. If you are permitted to take off, take off as soon as possible. On the ground you will steer by pushing one of the rudder pedals forward. (Be careful not to push the top downward as this activates the brake)
  4. Climb to a reasonable height where you are not near bumpy terrain.
  5. If you want to bank to the left, turn the joystick of the plane to the left. If you want to bank to the right, turn the joystick of the plane to the right and vice versa. Remember to pull back on the stick in order to tighten the turn and use the rudder in order to have a coordinated turn. Make sure to be gentle with the controls.

Tips

  • If possible, set your "realism settings" in your flight simulator to maximum for realistic movement of the airplane in the simulation.

Warnings

  • Ask advice from a professional pilot or take flying lessons.
