Steps
Short Bangs: Classic Headband
When you've got short bangs, this will keep them away so you are free to see the world with no interruptions, period.
- Simply slip a cool headband into your hair to instantly swipe those short bangs out of your eyes. You can use chunky headbands covered in fabric, fancy headbands, elastic sports headbands, etc. Jazz it up by styling the rest of your hair in a ponytail, pigtails, braids, or a funky updo.
Medium Short Bangs: Clip It Up
This is a very easy way to keep slightly longer bangs out of your face, from the mall to the gym and back again.
- Gather your bangs and hold them up.
- Pull them back so they are right on top of your head. Make them into a small hump, if you wish.
- Take a barrette or bobby pin and clip them in place.
Medium/Long Bangs: Cross My Head, Hope to Style
- Start by brushing your bangs to the side (unless they are already side swept), then do one of the following:
- Method #1: This one is easier than #2...Grab a teeny section of your bangs, nearest your nose, and twist all the way to the roots. Wrap another tiny section around it and twist those. Continue til all of your bangs are in a side twist. Still holding onto the twist, shake your hand back and forth to loosen it. Clip in place, and voila!
- Method #2: This one is similar to #1, but a tad harder...Grab a small section of your bangs, nearest your nose, and braid once. Then add more hair to the left and right strands and braid once more. It's sorta like French braiding; continue til all of your bangs are in the braid. Clip in place, and there you go.
- Method #3: This is the hardest of them all...Try french braiding your hair, starting with your bangs, and going back until you've finished your hairdo. This way, you have a pretty hairdo, and your bangs stay out of your face. For those who can't french braid, check the article How To French Braid
Longer Bangs: Side Swept
Similar to the above style, this will keep long bangs out of the way so you can get on with life easier.
- Gather your bangs.
- Pull them directly to the side.
- Clip them in place with either a cross of bobby pins or a barrette.
- Hair spray your hair!!
Tips
- Even if you're not interested in growing out your bangs, these techniques are great to use every once in a while, especially on windy days.
- Use these ideas for inspiration on creating your own styles.
- Using small bow clips in place of bobby pins or barrettes can give your 'do a scene-kid edge.
Warnings
- If you straighten your hair, you may realize that clips sometimes leave dents in it. So, don't plan on clipping your bangs back to take out later--you'll end up with dent-y locks!
Also, if you are worried about messing them up, you can always go with the traditional pin-back. But first, try the other techniques!
