Tie a Knot on a Hook

Many first time fishermen struggle with the most important step of fishing. Once you know the correct way to tie a knot to a hook, it isn't so tricky.

Steps

  1. Take your fishing line and stick it through the hole in the hook. Pull out a foot of line on the other side
  2. Use the line you pulled through the hook and twist it around the line on the other side of the hook 6-8 times.
  3. Find the small opening on the top of the hook. After twisting you will stick the free end through the small loop you have created.
    • Once that is completed, when you pull the line through the hoop you will notice you have created a larger loop.
  4. Push the line through the larger loop. Grab the line coming from the pole and the line coming out of the loop.
  5. Pull tight and it will create a secure knot!
  6. Grab the line coming from your pole and your hook. Pull to make sure your knot is secure.
  7. Cut the extra line off and you are ready to fish!

Warnings

  • At all times make sure your line is pulled tight while creating this knot to prevent tangled up line.
