Tray Slide

A great way to have fun in your front wheel drive car.

Steps

  1. Go to McDonalds, Hungry Jack's, or somewhere similar. Eat something (preferably with someone else not just yourself because you will need to order a fair bit of food); when asked, be sure to select "eat here" as opposed to take away.
  2. Order enough food that they'll have to give you 2 trays.
  3. Borrow (permanently) 2 plastic food trays, leave eating establishment.
  4. Place food trays on the ground behind your car level with each other and the same width as the rear wheel track of your car.
  5. Reverse slowly onto the plastic trays, (stop when your rear wheels are on top of them).
  6. Apply the handbrake (Emergency brake).
  7. Engage transmission (Automatic and manual both work).
  8. Nail it (this will to some extent simulate a rear wheel drive car doing a burnout, donuts and even fishtails are possible).

Tips

  • The trays will not only reduce the friction of your rear wheels, but also prevent tread wear.
  • If you find that McDonald's trays do not last long enough for your tastes then there is other options, just look around and you will find something. (In Australia, local government has thick green plastic covers for town irrigation system taps... these last for ages.)
  • While McDonalds' trays may have a relatively long life span in store (15 years + even!) exposing them to this level of stress wears them out VERY quickly.
  • Chuck your car on something metal, creating sparks. Looks awesome on video. This has a high chance of scratching your paint or damaging your vehicle though, so only do it if it's old and relatively worthless.
  • In place of McDonald's trays, "Diamond Plate" sheeting (or any sheet metal at least 1/8" thickness) can be used. Metal has much more resistance to the destructive forces of this procedure, so it will last much longer.

Warnings

  • If you crash while doing this there is an extremely high chance that everyone who sees you do so will laugh, thus humiliating you, and possibly causing you to want to cut yourself (seek help from a health-care professional if this is the case).
  • This technique makes the car very difficult to handle (but that's why it's so fun).

Things You'll Need

  • Cash
  • Front-wheel drive car
  • 2 fast food trays
  • Mates to witness your driving prowess
  • Camera Man
