Unstick Two Cooking Bowls

Cooking bowls that get stuck together risk breaking if you apply too much pressure in trying to pry them apart. Here is an easy fix that will keep both bowls intact.

Steps

  1. Place the 2 bowls in a deep pan and fill it with water up to 3/4 to the height of the bottom bowl. Fill the top bowl with ice.
  2. Turn on the heat. As the water's temperature rises, the bottom bowl's particles will expand.
  3. Have some toothpicks handy and try to poke one between the 2 bowls as often as possible while the water warms because you don't want the top bowl to sink more in the bottom one.
  4. Once a toothpick is in place, air will follow. Stop the heat and just work on placing one or two more toothpicks.
  5. Place the bowls on a towel on the counter [after emptying the pan of water and the top bowl of ice] and while holding the hot bottom bowl, slide out the top cold bowl.

Tips

  • If the bowls are small, like cups, just turn them upside down under the hot water tap.

Warnings

  • It is not necessary that the water boils, just keep it warmer than hot tap water and don't let children do it for you.
