Use Movie Clip to Make a Music Video for YouTube

You've watched hundreds of music videos on YouTube. You're practically an expert now, so why not make your own? Using Movie Clip to make a music video is an easy way to get started. Get the right equipment and software, choose an awesome song, and soon you'll be on your way to creating a video you can proudly share on YouTube.

Steps

  1. Get movie clips. The player on your computer may already have a clip capture option, but if not you will need a DVD ripper. You can download some for free, or if you want more options, buy one. DVD rippers work in different ways, so you have to figure out how to rip stuff by yourself. If you don't want to rip, there are several sites from which you can download clips from most popular T.V. series or films.
  2. Open Windows Movie maker. Look in 'Start, All Programs, Video'.
  3. Click on 'File, Import into collections' and select the clips you have ripped. The ripper should have asked/told you where the clips are located, if not, just browse around until you find it. Select anything you need and click 'Import' The clips will now be sent to 'Collections' (this may take a while depending on the file size)on the left hand side of your screen.
  4. Import a song the same way as the clips, by looking in 'my music' Make sure to choose a song that goes with the sort of film you are planning to make, and it's best to choose a short song to begin with, so you won't need to cut any out.
  5. Know that once you have the clips and song you need, you can use them to make a video. Click on 'Help, Help topics' to learn how to use Movie Maker. But don't forget to add credits at the end, to mention the title and artist of the song used, and the site where you got the clips, if applicable.
  6. Click 'File, Save Movie File' and make sure you save it to a place where you can easily be found.]
  7. Go on to 'www.YouTube.com' and log in. If you haven't got an account, register (for free). Click on 'Upload Videos' in the top right hand corner, under the search bar.
  8. Enter the relevant info, making sure to put a disclaimer (a short paragraph stating that you don't own the rights to the clips or song) in the description. Then click 'Go Upload a File'.
  9. Click on the 'Browse' button and select the movie you just saved. Make sure to get the movie file, not the movie maker project. Click 'Upload Video'. After it is fully uploaded (this could take a while), it will go directly to another screen. Select your preferences from this and save it.
  10. Watch to see that your video is now on YouTube! It may take a while to fully load so it might be a few minutes before you can watch it online.

Tips

  • When downloading new software, such as a DVD ripper, it's best to ask a friend what sort they use. That way you can be sure there are no viruses, and you have someone to ask if it all goes wrong. Failing that, send a message to someone on YouTube whose videos always seem to have good clear clips. most people will be happy to tell you what they use.
  • Don't upload a whole movie or strictly copyrighted material. if you are unsure, look in the 'Help' section of YouTube, under copyright tips.

Warnings

  • Remember that any info. about yourself that you put out on the Internet can be read by anyone. So be careful what you say,.
