Use a Copier

Using a photocopier can be complicated. Modern copiers come with a wide array of buttons and layers of usability that can easily confuse a novice or someone not used to the machine. This article provides some basic help.

Steps

  1. Make sure the copier is plugged in and turned on. If there is a switch, use it. The power switch (or button) will show the words "power" or "on/off," or a circle symbol with a line partially through it.
  2. Put the paper you want to copy on top of the screen. Be careful not to touch the screen with your fingers (because of your skin oil which can get very hot when exposed to bright light).
  3. Press the copy button. Wait for the selected number of copies to print.

Tips

  • Keep spare ink and computer paper nearby.

Warnings

  • Make sure you have ink and paper in the copier before you copy something.
  • If the copier doesn't belong to you, get permission to use it.
  • Do not photocopy anything prohibited by law. Examples of things that might be illegal to photocopy include money, stamps and photo IDs (passports, driving licenses, etc.), as well as materials protected by copyright.
