Use the Palm 'Touchstone' Wireless Charger

The HP/Palm Touchstone is a cool "hockey-puck-like" dock for your webOS device. (Pre, Pixi, Veer) Not only does it hold your device, but it can also charge it magically.

Steps

  1. Equip the device with a Touchstone back cover. It is a soft-touch matte back cover. The side facing in has 2 gold contacts, 4 circular magnets, and the large circular induction coil in the middle.(Unless you have the original (Sprint) Palm Pre, your device should already be equipped.)
  2. Plug in the Touchstone. (USB cable plugs into the back of the dock, silver circles facing each other, other end of the USB cable connects to a 5V wall adapter.)
  3. Place device on the dock, make sure the magnets align properly/it's seated properly.
  4. Enjoy! Show it off!

Tips

  • Charging behavior may "spasm," make sure the device is seated accurately.
  • The device can be placed in any orientation and it will charge.
  • webOS features an "Exhibition Mode" which is a sort of a screensaver displayed when charging on the Touchstone. Various information can be displayed.
  • The HTC EVO can be modded to charge on this dock.
  • Some people mount a Touchstone in their car.
  • The HP Pre 3 phone won't stay on the Touchstone as well as it should. Physical modification to better accommodate the different back curve is possible.
  • Pressing the power button when charging goes straight to Exhibition Mode. Pressing again turns off the screen. An up-swipe exits Exhibition mode.
  • If the device has an incoming call, just removing the device from the TS will answer the call, placing it back down will switch to speakerphone.

Warnings

  • Do not place metal between the device and the dock. Fire/Damage may occur.
  • Android phones do not have Exhibition Mode.
  • The Touchstone will not function if plugged into a computer USB port.
  • The device will heat up while charging.
  • These instructions were based on the original phone model. The Touchstone for the HP Touchpad is different.
  • We are not responsible if your country explodes as a result of following these instructions.
