Wash Men's Dress Shirts

Got those high toned or spill-prevented tight-lipped remarks on his favourite shirt clean-up? Well here are few tips to keep both his shirt and mood gloomy.

Steps

Hand Washing

  1. Take a clean bowl.
  2. Fill it with lukewarm water, add the detergent while the container is filling up, this will give you the idea to use just the right amount of detergent.
  3. Empty the pockets and dip the shirt in, soak it for five to ten minutes, watch the collar and sleeves, if they are more soiled add some detergent directly and rub immediately.
  4. Leave to soak for another 5 minutes, decant the water and rinse till the suds go away.
  5. Pull the shirt out. Do not wring, hang on a non metal hanger to drain off the water behind the shower curtain.
  6. After the dripping is overhang it where it can dry out.
  7. Press it while still little damp with a stain free iron.

Machine Washing

  1. Add the detergent first.
  2. Throw in the shirts.
  3. Wash on soft cycle, with no spin dry.

Tips

  • Check the base of iron if there are any burn marks and clean it before use.
  • Make sure there are no leeching rusty stains in the bowl that is being used to wash the shirts.
  • Do not forget to empty the pockets, cufflinks. If there is a ball point ink stain, remove that stain first by clipping (you may try some milk) it out it in such way that the stain does not soil other parts of the shirt.
  • If it's a matter of just one or two shirts, hand washing is preferable.
