Steps
- Wet hair with warm water, make sure it is soaking wet.
- Use a quarter sized dollop of shampoo. Start from the back and work your way to the front. Try not to pile your hair on top of your head when washing, as this can cause tangles and knots.
- Rinse completely until your hair has no shampoo left. If you noticed the first time your hair didn't really lather that well, it was because you used either too little shampoo or your hair is needing another shampooing. Try not to get too much lather, this dries out your hair.
- Squirt conditioner into your palms and rub it only on the hair falling from your ears down. The conditioning is only for moisturizing and if you apply it to your scalp it will get greasy and you will have to wash it again before long.
- Rinse well!! If you have frizzy/ curly/ wavy hair, leave a little conditioner in. This helps fight the frizz.
Tips
- It's probably not wise to shower in cold water, especially if it's in the winter. However, cold water helps reduce frizz and keeps the hair shiny, so only rinse your hair with cold water and rinse your body with warm or lukewarm water.
- Pat and squeeze hair dry with towel, never rub or shake violently, as this may lead to split ends.
- Rinse hair with cold water for high shine hair.
- Make sure to lather your scalp with shampoo.
- Don't be afraid to use volumizing shampoo, as this may give your hair the lift it needs if it is being weighed down by it's own weight.
- If you do use cold water for your hair, use a blow dryer and put it on cold air. never leave you hair soaking wet when you used cold water.
- Don't brush your hair in the shower as this will cause split ends.
- Stay away from curlers or straighteners!
- Don't wash your hair every day! This might sound weird, but washing your hair everyday strips the nourishing natural oil from your hair, making it prone to damage and frizz. This doesn't mean you can't shower every day, just tie you hair in a bun and pop a shower cap over it.
- Take your main shower with warm/lukewarm water then rinse with cold water.
- When brushing wet, thick hair, don't attack it. Slowly work your way up, as this will reduce the amount of knots.
Warnings
- Use only pads of fingers to rub your shampoo in, using your nails can scratch your hair follicles causing possible damage.
- Always let hair air-dry. Heat products damage hair.
