Add 'alias' Email Accounts on Me.Com

Alias email accounts are sometimes used to protect your real email address. For example if your email address is johnsmith@me.com and you decided to protect your name you could create an alias for this called i.e. john124728@me.com.

This is easily done using the NEW me.com Mail Preferences Menu.

Steps

  1. Log into me.com using your .Mac account or Mobile Me account log in info.
  2. Select the Mail tab from the top left corner.
  3. Then select from the pull down menu, preferences.
    • Click Addresses.
  4. Click the Add button (+) in the Addresses list.
  5. Click Mail Alias, and then provide the following information: An email alias, description, and a name, which will appear in the From field of the recipient’s email - Alias names may contain between 3 and 20 characters.
    • genius.wikihow@me.com
  6. MobileMe Mail uses the description to put a color-coded label on each message sent to your account so you can find them at a glance. A color for messages sent to the alias
    • Emails sent to an alias appear in your Inbox with a colored label in the message list matching your description.
  7. Click Done.
    • When you’re ready to send an email, use the From menu in the New Message window to choose the alias you want it sent from. Once your alias is set up you are able to send and receive emails from it, you are also able to sign up for accounts such as Facebook, Yahoo, iGoogle or YouTube.
