Back Up Email Files in Mozilla Thunderbird

Backing up your emails in Mozilla Thunderbird is easier than you think. Within a few simple steps, you can back up your emails.

Steps

  1. Make sure your client is not running.
  2. Go to the "Run" menu. This can be accessible by pressing the start key, and "R" at the same time.
  3. In the "Run" screen, type in "%appdata%", (without the quotes), and click "OK".
  4. Once in your AppData folder, locate the sub-folder called "Thunderbird" and open it. There should be a few different files in there, and among them should be a folder named "Profiles".
  5. Right click on the "Profiles" folder, and copy and paste it to a safe location.
  6. Congratulations, you have successfully backed up your emails in Thunderbird.
