Be Horror Punk
Horror punk is a style that was defined by a band called The Misfits, blending horror movie gimmicks and costumes with a more punk attitude and persona.

Steps
- Wear a lot of black; in the eyes of the public, there is nothing scarier than that.
- Wear dark clothes with skeleton prints on them, and horror movie t-shirts.
- You can also wear black shiny leather, just as long as it's not too tight.
- You can even make your own shirts. They can be for your favorite band, movie, novel.
- You can change shirts too by ripping, shredding, or sewing them.
- Try applying lots of eyeliner and eye shadow on your eyes; it doesn't matter what gender you are, this usually looks good on everyone if you apply it right.
- You could use eyeliner other than black too.
- Try putting it as close to the eye as possible.
- Practice doing Meatwad impressions in the mirror 7 times a day.
- Trust me, it'll bump up your horror punk cred to astronomical levels.
- Do your hair. The famous hair is the devilock. It's essential to Horror Punk style. Though it isn't absolutely mandatory, it's something you would want to have, and it compliments the style of clothing you'll have. It is usually dark-colored hair that is short in the back, side, and most of the front, but one very long lock of hair (usually rather thick, but the Misfits usually sport Devilocks rather thin) streaking down the middle of one's face or off to the side a bit.
- Accessorize. Wear pointy spikes, skeleton print gloves, skeleton mask, and gas mask are good options. Fashion your hair in to a pomp or a devil lock
- Decide what you want on your feet. Combat boots, Converse, Vans, Iron Fist or Punk Rose will work, just as long as it's dark colored. Heels make wonderful accessories.
- Listen to punk music and horror punk bands. Some examples are: The Misfits, Samhain, Balzac, The Cramps, Calabrese, Wednesday 13, Zombie Ghost Train, and Blitzkid. Anything else is completely unacceptable and you will get your horror punk card revoked.
- Work out a LOT, or not at all, EVER. Either look like Danzig in his prime, or don't even attempt to work out because it's conformist.
- Know about Paranormal stuff. Stuff like Vampires, Werewolves, or any myth/legendary stuff of the likes (especially the scary ones!)
- Try reading and watching science fiction more often.
- Watch horror movies. It's a plus to know about Horror Movies, even cult hits, old movies, and B movies. Most horror punks are very into sci-fi and other horror cultures as well, aside from just the music. Almost all Horror Punk lyrics are fueled by movies or other scary flicks, anyway.
- Listen to Green Day, they are true punk and have the image down and you can hear them on the radio any time. Anti-punk-punk. Rob Zombie is great too because he looks like a corpse. This is perfect, look like Rob Zombie.
- Anime is optional, but a lot of good horror punk comes out of Japan so lots of horror punks respect Japan and like anime, especially the more gruesome or scary animes such as Blood Plus or Elfen Lied.
- Have fun! You'll notice most horror punks are great people and love to share their interests with other horrorpunks. Don't think you can't have friends and have to lash out at anyone who tries to be nice to you.
Tips
- You don't necessarily have to be mean to people, just have to scare with your looks. You can be as polite and nice as you want.
- The Clothes: Black leather is great. Combat Boots are a good idea, just make sure they don't sport things like "No Future", British flags, or Anarchy signs on the boot. Stud straps and platform are the best boots. Creeper Sneakers are good too, but only if there not "Anarchy" style. Leopard Print or Skull creepers are good. There have been creepers with the crimson ghost( The misfits logo ) on them. Wear black denim or leather with studs on it but don't go crazy with studs or you'll look like a UK Punk. Makeup is cool for girls and guys but guys can't go overboard. Unless you’re going to a show, then maybe you can paint your face to look like a skull like Michael Graves. Eyeshadows and Eye Liner are basically it anywhere else. Sometimes guys might want to make their skin pale a zombie like. That’s fine anywhere. Also wear studded belts or black belts with cool belt buckles with skulls or maybe even a fiend on it.
- Being in a horror punk band helps you a lot.
- Some horror punks wear white make-up on their faces; this is optional, but it would be a nice touch.
- Flare your nostrils and widen your eyes if you catch someone giving you the stare, this can often send an eerie faux serial murderer message.
- Blond hair is acceptable.
Warnings
- Don't actually follow a How to be Horror Punk, just do your own thing!
- Don't worry about all this Sex Pistols stuff and all that government crap. You're not here to complain. Be daring and don't care about someone else's opinion.
- You don't necessarily have to have a Devilock, (The Misfits' hair style) have it how you want.
- You don't need to break the law, you just have to look like you would break it, if you had to.
- Wear what you want, and mix it up a bit! Animal prints, neons, fake blood, it's all about what YOU think Horror Punk is, not what Hot Topic declares it to be.
- Never put real blood on your self!
- Again, be very careful that you don't look emo. Many punks/horror punks frown upon or despise the emo culture and you won't look very smart.
- Don't make a habit out of wearing masks, because people will automatically suspect something.
- Don't wear light colors, except white and light gray.
- There's a difference between being a pin-up girl, and looking like a prostitute.
- If you do decide to wear white make-up, you may be labeled as goth, or maybe emo. Watch the quantity you wear.
