Become a Snowboard Instructor in Canada

Have you ever thought it would be fun to snowboard and get paid for it? Here is an overview of what you'll need to do!

Steps

  1. Be of age. You must be 15 years old to enroll in a CASI course. [citation needed]
  2. Learn to snowboard yourself! You can't teach it if you aren't good yourself, obviously.
  3. Visit the CASI (Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors) website[1] to find out information on the Level 1 course. You will find course overviews (which includes what your expected abilities are), dates and locations that the course is offered and the costs associated.
    • Optional - If you are apprehensive about your skills, there is a Level 1 preparation course that will help if you feel you need it.
  4. Enroll in the CASI course of your choice.
  5. Pay attention, study and pass it!
  6. Apply for a position with a local resort.

Tips

  • If you don't like working with people, this is not the job for you!!
  • Resorts are looking for people who are fun, creative and can combine that with being responsible.
  • Study the course guide beforehand, it will help!

Warnings

  • If you never took lessons yourself, expect to be broken down and built back up. This is the process of refining your style/skills to the standards expected by the CASI evaluators.
