Bleach Facial Hair
Whatever your reason is for dyeing your facial hair, here is a guide on how to do it. There are a few reasons for why you might need to bleach your facial hair: If you have dark facial hair and you don't have the time to get it removed by threading, if you don't want to remove your mustache hair (women), if you have olive toned or pale skin, or if you want to switch from the fake blond look to a real natural blond look.

Steps
- Buy the bleaching product. It usually comes in a box like with the regular hair dye except if says "facial hair bleach". It's important to make sure that it's made especially for facial hair, because the usual hair dye would be too rough on your skin since the facial hair is really thin and facial skin is delicate. Once you purchase the product you'll notice that inside the box there's a small bag of powder and a bottle of liquid. Make sure you're not allergic to any of the used chemicals (see Warnings).
- Get prepared. Put on an old top so you won't worry if it got stained. In the bleach box you'd find a pair of gloves, if not then purchase some gloves and put them on.. Pour some bleach powder in a plastic/glass bowl and pour the liquid on it. Don't use too much liquid, you need to get the whole powder you poured mixed into a creamy texture. The resulting mixture will most likely change color from white to bluish, that's completely normal.
- For this step you'll need either a fine wide makeup brush or a small piece of carton or plastic where the length of the piece is twice/three times the width. This will help you spread the mixture of the desired areas. Take the brush and wipe a small amount of the mixture to start spreading the product on your face, but before that set your stopwatch or keep an eye on the time you started the process.
- Always start with the mustache area, because the hair you have on your upper lip is usually a bit thicker than in other areas of the face. Make sure the amount you're using on this areas is thicker than in other places. If you're going to bleach you're whole face then cover the hairline around your forehead "baby hairs" at the same time.
- Spread light amounts on the rest of your face avoiding the areas around your eyes, the tissue is very delicate there and also the dye could harm your eye. Unless you're going to bleach your eyebrows as well, avoid that area too. It's not very wise to bleach your eyebrows, but if you're going to anyway then do it in another time, because eyebrow hair is thick and will take longer time to change color.
- You might read on your bleach product that the process time is 15-20 minutes which is a common mistake, and will lead to damaging your skin tissue and inflaming it. The real process time should not exceed 10 minutes, once 7 minutes has passed you may remove a little bit of the mixture to make sure that it's working. Check the area where you first applied the product.
- If the area you checked has already became blond, pull out some cotton pads (same ones you use to remove makeup) wet them a little with lukewarm water, be careful not to use too cold/hot water. Then start wiping away the mixture. Start with the areas where you started applying the mixture on your face. If you're working below the eyes area wipe the mixture down, if you're working above the eyes then you have to wipe it up. Beware that wiping down above the eyes would mostly likely end up in your eyes which is dangerous.
- After the whole mixture is wiped off your face, wash your face. First with clean lukewarm water, and then use a PH balancing soap like Johnson&Johnson or simply your regular Dove beauty bar.<br
- Use skin toner to help moisturize and balance your skin for a fresh look. When applying the toner also avoid the areas around your eyes.
Tips
- After the process your skin would probably turn red in a few spots, this is normal and will go in a few minutes, it's nothing to worry about unless it hurts.
- If the processing time ended and you still had unbleached areas, do the process again a few days later, but not the very next day, and if you did it again then use the product only on specific areas.
- There are dozens of bleach brands, some are good while so many are bad for your skin. To find your product you might need to search a bit and experience some brands, however it's best that you start with a trusted brand, also it's very important that once you find a product you're comfortable with just stick to it.
- Bleaching facial hair will only make the hair look blond/white so the hair will still be there.
- If you have olive toned pale skin, bleaching would be ideal for you as it gives a fresh undertone to your skin.
- Some people like to bleach other areas of their bodies like chest hair, hair on your hands/knuckles or breasts, however if you wish to bleach your breasts including the nipples you'll need some professional opinions before you do it as it might be very dangerous.
- If you're not sure what you're doing, call a salon and ask them to talk you through the steps. Also if you know some people at a salon you may ask them what bleach product they use, most salons will refuse to tell you but it's worth a shot.
- Once the new roots start showing up again, which is 3-4weeks depending on your hair type, you'll need to bleach your facial hair again. People around you would most likely notice the difference especially if you have had really dark facial hair before you bleached. Long story short you'll need to constantly buy the bleach product, one pack should be enough for couple of uses.
- Sometimes you feel a light burning sensation in some spots during the process, if it was annoying you try to lighten the mixture at that spot, if it kept burning then just remove.
Warnings
- Don't go out in the sun right after you bleach, it's best to do it on a cool/cloudy day, and not be exposed to the sun for nearly 24 hours, so if you're going on a vacation be sure you bleach a few days before.
- Don't let the process time exceed 10 minutes.
- If you felt a severe burning sensation in the first few seconds of applying the product then remove right away and wash your face, it means the product you bought is not right for your skin.
- If you are allergic to any of the chemicals in the bleaching product then just don't use, here are the Ingredients : "Bleach powder: Talc, Magnesium Carbonate, Sodium Silicate, Ammonium Persulifate." "Oxidizing Cream [the liquid in the bottle] : Aqua, Hydrogen Peroxide, Loureth-3, Ceteareth-20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Phenacetin B.P" each product's ingredients may differ so make sure you read it.
- Dyeing your eyebrows may lead to blindness, so if you really want to do it, the it's better you ask a professional assistance.
- 48 hours before the process, test your product on a small area of skin, preferably not on the face. This is to make sure you're not allergic to the product.
