Book Cheap Eurostar Tickets

Eurostar deals take you by high speed train from London to Paris which is ideal for short breaks but it can cost more than the airfare. Following are tips for booking the best deal Eurostar tickets with or without hotel reservations included.

Steps

  1. Have a rough idea of your preferred dates. Eurostar tickets are available to purchase 120 days (4 months) in advance. Other destinations (TGV, Thalys) are available 90 days (3 months) in advance. The cheaper fares do sell out quickly. Particularly during special events.
  2. Decide if you want to book a hotel and Eurostar deal or just rail tickets.
  3. Book your tickets. You may book via telephone (08457 186 186) or web-site www.Eurostar.com. The costs are the same either way with NO additional booking fee with booking via 'phone.
  4. Select your preferred ticketing method. Collect from an e-ticket machine at the station or print your tickets at home if you prefer them sent to you via e-mail.
  5. Check out the 'Latest Deals' page on the web-site. There is an 'availability calendar'. This is for the 4 core routes only (Brussels, Paris, Lille and Calais) and shows you what dates have the better fares. This is by far the simplest way.
  6. Once you have the days search for the train times.

Tips

  • The buffet car is expensive but you are allowed to consume your own food and drink on board.
  • If you want to go anywhere in France other than to Paris, it's best to check out the connections at Lille, where Eurostar shares the same platforms as French TGV trains heading all over France.
  • Avoid early morning services from St Pancras. Late afternoon gets booked up early too.
  • When booking Hotel and Eurostar deals, use Google maps to check out the exact location

Warnings

  • One word of warning!! This methods only allows you to book for adults. For concessions (youths, etc) remember the travel details and start over from the normal 'Book Online' page.
  • The waiting area at St Pancras Station can get very crowded on weekday mornings.
  • Not all trains stop at intermediate stations - Ebbsfleet, Ashford, Calais, Lille.
  • You will definitely need a passport. You are not able to travel on a driving licence. You are crossing international borders, how you cross them is irrelevant.
  • Don't leave it until the last minute to book.
  • Be careful when booking Thalys tickets. The are no Eurostar ticket collection facilities at Dutch stations. If your journey starts in Holland book the Thalys tickets with Thalys directly or have your tickets posted to you in advance.
