Bring out the Color in Your Eyes

Are you wondering how you can make your eye color stand out more? This will teach you how to use clothing and makeup to do just this.

Steps

  1. Rock the colors that work with your skin tone. This doesn't mean you have to stay away from certain colors entirely, but just certain shades. If you're unsure, consult with a beauty consultant at a local department store or drugstore.
  2. Try not to use colors that are the same as your eye color. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't wear blue eyeshadow all the time if your eyes are blue. Just try not to do it very often. You want your makeup to make your eye color "pop". Using the identical colors can draw attention away from your eye color.
  3. If you have brown eyes, deep, earthy colors are great. Greens, golds, blues, and various purple shades work nicely with the browns.
  4. If you have green eyes, pretty much the same as brown eyes. Violet and plum shades are especially good for green eyes. Grey is a great colour as well.
  5. If you have blue eyes, rich brown shades always work with a beautiful blue eye. Try on some silvers/golds/grays as well.
  6. If you have hazel eyes, feminine, girly pink pale purple, and sheer blush shades are great with hazel, along with black.
  7. If you want to figure out the perfect eyeliner for you, just use a flashlight and shine it at your eye. Look in the mirror and look to see what color is at the very very rim of the colored part your eye and that is your perfect color.

Tips

  • Don't limit yourself to what people tell you. Explore for yourself! Buy some cheap makeup and experiment. Go to a department store and experiment with samples. Consult with a beauty consultant. Be creative and open-minded.
  • Spread eye shadow, don't clump/cake it on.
  • Green eyes: Sweep a soulful dark purple eyeshadow over the eyelid to bring out the green, accompanied with a dark brown eyeliner and brownish-black mascara. (You can get a good brown-black mascara from the N.Y.C. brand)
  • A smoky eye works on any eye color.
  • A plum eyeliner would go great with a shimmering gold.
  • Brown eyes: Try blending a light purple eyeshadow with a medium shade to intensify the brown with a black eyeliner and mascara to define.
  • Blue eyes: Try rocking a hot, stunning silver across the eyelids to play up the eye, along with a soft black eyeliner and mascara.
  • For a dramatic look, smudge your eyeliner the first time around, then reapply another layer.
  • Hazel eyes: Show off your girly side by blending a pink eyeshadow with another pale purple shade. Then use a black eyeliner and mascara.
  • Recommended brands for color variations: Maybelline, N.Y.C., CoverGirl, ELF (Eyes Lips Face).

Warnings

  • Make sure to update your makeup every 6 months or so and be careful not to share your eyeliner or mascara, as it carries the possibility of eye infections.
