Give Yourself a Makeover With the Clothes You Already Have

It seems that how many clothes you get, you always feel dull and monotonous. Spice up your wardrobe without spending a cent! Here’s a great way to give yourself a fashion makeover without ever leaving your closet. Remember have and open mind and have fun but try to make relatively simple changes to start so you don’t wreck, say, you favorite sweater.

Steps

  1. Look for ideas. Search online, in magazines, and in stores. Learn which styles look best for your body type.
  2. Learn basic sewing skills. Learn how to sew buttons, add trims, make a ruffle, fix a hem, take in a seam, and coordinate colors.
  3. Change a neckline.

    • Cut a neckline. Fold it over twice into a narrow hemline. Stitch it by hand for a finished look.

  7. Create layers.

    • Wear a camisole beneath a blouse. Wear a sleeveless blouse as a vest.
    • Wear leggings beneath a long top or mini skirt.
  8. Use accessories such as stencil, paint, dye, or tie-dye fabrics. Add ribbons, sequins, beads, buttons, or bows.
  9. Go window shopping. When you go window shopping, you can see what other stores have that you might have in your closet.
  10. Use the clothes you already have to create new looks by mix and matching them

Tips

  • Alter your hair and makeup to go with your new look!
  • If you purposefully rip holes in tights or anything stretchy, the holes will get larger every time you wear it until the clothing is ruined.
