Build a Guillotine

The darkest days of the French Revolution...a time when over 17,000 heads were severed from their bodies by a clever device called the "guillotine".

Steps

  1. Purchase some wood, rope, sheet metal aluminum, hammer, nails, tin snips, saw and a pulley at you local hardware store.
  2. Take two long, narrow wooden boards and create grooves in the sides with the saw. This allows the blade to cleanly slide down between the posts.
  3. Take a shorter board and place it across the top of the two posts. Nail it in place.
  4. Towards the bottom of the device, create a table for a victim to lie on. See How to Make a Table.
  5. Take your sheet metal aluminum and cut it with a pair of tin snips so its edges are sharp. This will be your blade.
  6. Create a weight out of a heavy chunk of wood and place it on top of the blade. This will make the blade fall faster and make whatever you're going to cut go under more pressure, causing it to split.
  7. Take a saw and cut two semi-circles out of one long end of a piece of wood. When together, the two pieces will create a circle for the victim's head.
  8. Attach a rope to your blade and insert it into your device. Raise the blade and let it fall a few times to make sure it runs smoothly.
  9. Place a dummy head in the stalks, release the blade and it will be sliced in half if all done correctly. Don't worry, there is no blood in dummies.

Warning

  • This is a dangerous device that should not be toyed with in a way that could harm any people or animals.
