Build a Pyramid of Cards
Have you ever wanted to make a card pyramid, but found it too frustrating and quit? This article will teach you how to make a simpler card pyramid, with all the appeal of an ornate tower.
Steps
- Take one card and bend it vertically in half. The card will take on a "V" shape. Repeat this step a few times, just so enough cards are folded to start the bottom row of the tower.
- Set down the cards so they stand, or in the form of an "A." If your cards are not bent equally, your tower may become lopsided and collapse. Make sure all cards are folded as equally as possible before moving on.
- Align the cards in a row, making sure they are touching end-to-end. Without a strong bottom row, your tower will surely collapse.
- Lay one card horizontally across every two folded cards. Once your bottom row is complete and stable, move on to step five.
- Continue to fold cards. This time, as your folding, remember to fold one less card than in the bottom row.
- Repeat step two and lay the cards "V" side down on the bottom row. Use extra caution as to not collapse the cards.
- Keep folding and stacking, until the tower is complete with a single pointed card on top.
- Finished. Celebrate! You're done building your card tower. Now, make some more!
Tips
- If the cards fall, they fall. Just take a deep breath and start over again.
- Try to do it on a piece of cloth or on the floor so there is more grip for the cards to stand up
- Try to make card pyramids alone so that nobody knocks them over. However, if somebody does, don't be extremely mad at them. It was most probably an accident.
- Relax and keep your hand steady.
- Use old, worn cards. New, plastic cards are slippery and a lot harder to control.
- If you use a combination of card colors, such as blue and red backs, the pyramid will come out even more unique.
- Fold the face side out for a more ornate card tower, or even alternate between face side and patterns. It's your tower, make it the way you want to.
- Playing card size cardstock or note cards will work.
- Make sure that the tops of the cards are at an equal height.
Warnings
- Try to stay calm so you won't shake and collapse all of the cards.
- Don't become stressed. Card towers are intended to be fun.
- Don't breathe very hard!
