Do the Salty Card Trick

This is an amazing trick where you guess the spectator's card.

Steps

  1. Get some salt and put it in your pocket; now you're ready to do the trick.
  2. Tell the spectator to pick a card, memorize it, then put it back on top of the deck. you could also get them to put it somewhere else in the deck and control their card to the top.
  3. Divide the deck into five piles, put them on the floor or a table and remember which pile their card is on.
  4. Tell them to point to one of the piles and then point to the rest until all the piles are squared up, but when they point to the pile with their card on it, secretly take some salt out of your pocket and point to their pile and ask "this one?" and while you're pointing to the pile drop the salt on it. They won't be able to see the salt.
  5. Square up the deck and put it on the ground.
  6. Slightly kick the cards forward, then kick them slightly to the left, or if your using a table, "cast a magic shadow"(wave your hand) over the deck and push the cards as described
  7. Whichever card has the most distance from the cards behind and in front of it is their card. So there you go!

Tips

  • Try not to make it obvious that you're putting salt on the card.
