Buy a Commercial Pressure Washer

Pressure washers are used in many professions. They can be used in cleaning cars, stripping surfaces of paint and stains, cleaning animal enclosures and removing oil and grease from auto shop floors. The pressurized water has made jobs more efficient and workplaces more tidy. There are different models of pressure washing machines available, however, and you need to be sure to choose the correct one for the job you want to complete. This is how to buy a commercial pressure washer.

Steps

  1. Look for a pressure washer with brass pump heads.
  2. Search for a pressure washer with either gear drive or belt drive when exploring gas powered machines.
  3. Consider a pressure washer with direct drive with 1750 to 1800 r/min motors or belt drive with a 3,500 r/min motor when considering electric machines.
  4. Look for a pressure washer with quality parts throughout. This will help it stand up to wear and tear over time.
  5. Choose between cold and hot water units.
    • Cold water can be effective in removing a lot of dirt and grime, especially when pressurized and moving at a great velocity. Cold water is not as effective at removing grease and oil; however, it can be paired with chemicals and cleaning agents that help break down and remove the stubborn substances.
    • Hot water can be more effective on its own at removing dirt, grime, grease and oil. When hot water is pressurized it becomes even more effective. Hot water pressure washers need diesel or kerosene to heat the water using a heating coil which makes them significantly heavier than their cold water counterparts, and they need to have an electricity source for the burner system, so they either require a battery or an accessible plug.
  6. Look for a pressure washer with 3000 PSI.
  7. Decide how much flow you need. If you are cleaning primarily horizontal surfaces, high flow is important. If you are cleaning primarily vertical surfaces, lower flow is alright.
  8. Find a pressure washer with all of these components in 1 unit. There are many websites that sell commercial pressure washers. These would be a good way to buy the unit that you want instead of being coerced into buying a unit with different features by a salesperson because it is on site.

Tips

  • A pressure washer with a diesel engine will last longer than a standard gas powered pressure washer.
  • Check warranties to find out about quality. The best commercial pressure washers will have a warranty on the engine for about 2 years and on the pump for about 5 years.

Warnings

  • Pressure washers are dangerous tools and should only be operated by trained adults wearing protective gear.
