Change Xbox Live Gamertag
This article describes how to change your Gamertag. (You will be required to pay/use 800 Microsoft points)
Steps
- Connect to Xbox Live
- Press the Xbox Guide Button.
- Go to the "Settings" Tab
- Select "Profile".
- Select "Edit Profile".
- Select "Gamertag".
- On the "Change Gamertag" screen, you can either get suggestions and edit/pick one or you can enter your own on the "Enter New Gamertag" screen.
- If you are a new member, you are allowed to change your gamertag for free once and then it will cost 800 Microsoft Points. If you don't have enough points, you can buy them here or you can go to a store and get some.
- On the "Enter Gamertag" screen, make the changes that you want. (i.e Changing "gamerTAG123" to "superbunny555")
- Confirm the purchase of 800 Microsoft Points.
- You have now changed your gamertag!
Tips
- A Gamertag used online must be unique and can be up to 15 characters in length, including numbers, letters, and spaces.
- Try to make it original.
Warnings
- Your friends could take you off their friends list so send them a message saying:"My gamertag is going to be: e.g. cookie123" if not your friends might take you off your friend list.
- You can end up with your Gamertag being banned if using offensive, racist, sexist remarks - Try to keep it clean.
