Create an Xbox Live Gamertag
Playing video games online with your Xbox 360 is one of the best parts of the console. Before you can do so however, you must first create an Xbox Live Gamertag.
Steps
- Create an account with MSN (go to www.msn.com, click "sign in" then click "sign up".)
- Wait for the confirmation e-mail. (This can take up to 10 min)
- Go to www.xbox.com and click register.
- Enter your information, pick a name, avatar, etc.
- Enter your MSN registered address.
- If you just want a silver membership, you're done. If you want to be able to play games online, keep reading.
- Click next, and then upgrade.
- Enter your Credit Card number or promotional code.
- Wait for another confirmation e-mail. (This will only take 1-2 min)
- Wait for a PM on the forums, once you get it click the validate link.
- Congratulations, you're finally done.
Tips
- If it's your first time creating an account, choose the silver membership to get a free 1 month trial on the subscription section.
- Lots of people have already created Gamertags, so have a few names ready in case yours is already taken.
- If your still a minor and your parents agreed to let you play M rated contents then you can create an adult account by typing down a different year of birth (you can put your parents DOB if its ok with them). After the account is created, even if your a minor you won't have any issues with playing or downloading any M rated content.
- Have a credit card or pre-paid promotional card ready.
- It really looks cool when you match two random words together. Example: FruityNinja99. (Be sure to add a 2- digit number. It adds character. Sort of.)
- If you are an experienced player, try adding X's to your Gamertag, as it states superiority. Example: XxDarkSpartanxX. (Gamertags can only have 15 characters, so make it snazzy.)
- Add two random words together to make a good username. For example: xXkeyboardgravyXx (keyboard gravy).
Warnings
- Game ratings can change when playing online, be aware.
- You should never use someone else's credit card without their permission.
- Do not use an offensive Gamertag. If you do, other players have the right to file a complaint. Also, make sure you want the Gamertag you've chosen. It costs 800 Microsoft Points to get a new one.
- Children under the age of 13 shouldn't be using the internet without parental permission.
