Check out a Used Car

Checking out a Used Car isn't that simple. There are many ways for you to remember.

Steps

  1. First, look for a leak. The engine should be in a perfect condition. Using a small flashlight you can probably see the internal parts.
  2. Choose the less black oil that is forming in there.
  3. Try to start-up the car. If blue smoke is released, it means there is a problem in the engine. If black, there is problem with the gas injection. If white, it is in the gasket.
  4. Then, use the car for a while. Test it. you should know that a car in a perfect condition must have no noise as possible when running. The lesser the noise the better.
  5. Lastly, check on the light, the belt, and the break.

Tips

  • Don't buy a car if engine is too noisy.
  • Hire someone knowledgeable to have a vehicle inspected.
  • Don't buy a car if a smoke is seen from the exhaust pipe.
  • Remove the radiator cap, start the engine, let it get to running temperature, this will engage the thermostat valve and the water will start to cycle. NOW peer into the radiator fluid, if it is gently swilling then all is okay with the engine. BUT if the water is spiking or jumping there may be some serious mechanical fault with the engine itself (fixable but may be due to multi faults) .
  • Rev the engine slightly, if white smoke is spews from the exhaust, it means there may be a crack in the engine block itself (expensive / near impossible fix).

Warnings

  • Only the water steam and water condensate dripping from the tail pipe is still okay.
