Clean Blueberries

Did you go out and pick blueberries and don't know how to clean them? It's very simple, as follows.

Steps

  1. Put the blueberries into a strainer. Pick out the stems.
  2. Turn the water on gently. It is best very cold.
  3. Put the strainer under the water. Shake the blueberries under the cold water, in the strainer.
  4. After shaking the blueberries, let the strainer sit under the water while you check again for stems, leaves, bugs, and so forth.
  5. Gently pat the blueberries dry with a paper towel or clean dish rag. Make sure you don't squish the blueberries. They're now ready to serve as they are, to add to desserts, or to use for baking.
  6. Finished.
  7. Finished.

Tips

  • Make sure you get nice plump ripe dark blue almost purple blueberries and not sour tiny balls of sour, tart ones!
