Sounds so simple there is no need to explain? There is actually a little bit of an art to the way that you serve strawberries and cream to make the most of the delectable flavours. Here is how to serve strawberries and cream in a way that enhances the experience and follows the traditional way of preparing strawberries and cream.

- Strawberries
- sugar (caster sugar)
- Cream (your choice)
Alternate Method
- 10 Large Strawberries
- 2 Cups Half & Half
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Steps
- Halve the strawberries. After a gentle rinse and removal of the top, cut each strawberry in half.
- Sprinkle with fine sugar. Cover each half with a little fine sugar.
- Cover in cream. The choice of cream is up to you; it can be thick but liquid or whipped so that it peaks.
- Leave to stand. This is the artful part. Set the strawberries aside to sit for one hour at room temperature. Stir it occasionally. If preferred, the strawberries can be left in the refrigerator for up to four hours. During this time, the strawberry juice, sugar and cream are combining in a way similar to marinating. The resulting flavour is more intense and enjoyable.
- Serve. Your guests will be delighted.
Alternate Method
- Wash the strawberries and cut the green top off.
- Cut each strawberry into quarters.
- Mix water and 1/2 of the sugar.
- Mix the half & half until bubbly.
- Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and vanilla extract.
- Put the strawberries into a bowl of sugar water. Soak for 5 minutes.
- Layer strawberries with cream in individual cups.
Tips
- Add a special touch to your cream. Before pouring it over the strawberries, add some rosewater, orange flower water or essence of jasmine to your cream. Simply scrumptious.
