Steps
Boiling Water Method
- Place the bronze item in boiling water in a large container.
- Rub the bronze item well with a piece of flannel cloth in soapsuds. Remove any marks or stains with gentle rubbing.
- Dry with a chamois leather. Make sure that it is completely dry to avoid the potential for deterioration.
Salt, Vinegar and Flour
- Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup white vinegar. Mix in flour to create a paste.
- Take the bronze item and apply the paste evenly. Let it sit for 15 to 60 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water.
- Polish dry with a chamois cloth.
Tips
- Keep bronze free of dust and occasional stains on a regular basis. This will help maintain it well over time.
Warnings
- Do not use these methods with lacquered bronze; only use a damp cloth occasionally and dust regularly with a duster.
