Clear and Put Music on a CD RW

Got a blank CD, and can't put music on it? Read on and see how to put music on it. (Step 1 only applies to CD RW's, as you cannot clear a regular CD R.)

Steps

  1. Check if the CD is blank. To do this, just go to My Computer, right click on the drive the CD is in, and it should say Clear this CD RW. If it says that, click it. If it doesn't, proceed to Step 2.
  2. Open a program that allows you to burn filers to a CD, such as Roxio or Windows Media Player.
  3. For Windows Media Player, just go to the Burn option, and there will be a box at the far right, and you drag the songs from your library to there, and click start burn.
  4. For Roxio, you open it up, click Create A CD, or something of that description, and click Music (in the little tabs under the data library at the top, and the drag-to menu at the bottom) Then open the folder in your documents that holds your music, and drag the songs you want to the drag-to menu, then click the orange/red button in the lower right corner.
  5. There will now be a pop up menu, just ignore it and click okay. Your CD will now start to burn.

Tips

  • Do not write on the CDs with a permanent marker or CD marker, as you may want to clear the CD (only RW's), put put a little mark or number on it, then get a sheet of paper and write the songs that CD has on it (Change the paper when/if you re write the CD).
