Compress Fraps Videos with VirtualDub

After recording a video in Fraps you will see the immense file size. If you do not want your hard drive to be full when recording just one hour of material you will have to compress the files.

Steps

  1. Download the XVid codec on their website.
  2. Choose your system and install the codec.
  3. Download Virtualdub and after installing, open the program.
  4. In the menu bar, go to File -> Open video file..
  5. Select your video and press open.
  6. Now go to Video -> Compression.. and select the "XviD MPEG-4 Codec".
  7. Press OK button and go to File -> Save as AVI. Then wait until the compression has been finished.

  • Fraps recording program
  • VirtualDub
  • XVid codec for your system
