Confirm a Job Offer from Another City
We all desperately apply for jobs with customized resumes when unemployed; in most cases on random basis. But what exactly to do when a job is being offered by a reputed or pre-selected company and you have moved on to a different city in quest of a job. You don't want to lose this job as it fulfills your expectations. Although you are away but you can still confirm the job by following this few steps.
Steps
- After you have decided to join in the new job, send an email to the HR department confirming your availability so that the HR unit does not contact anyone else to fill in the vacancy position.
- It is better to be honest as you will be working there after all. So, rather than creating your own story, tell them the date when you would be able to join. It is better if you could inform it over phone call but if not, then just send another email. In this way, you not only fortify your new job but also earn the heart of your supervisor.
- If you receive any form of confirmation from the company's end relating to the extension time for joining; send them an appreciation letter. Decide on the content first as you don't want your email to be treated as a spam.
- Try to be in touch with your future supervisor, colleagues and especially with the HR unit. Once they feel that you are seriously interested in the job; chances are low that you would lose the position.
- Finally and most importantly, don't ask for further time extension(s) once the time has been extended. Make sure you join on the date and time specified in the time extension email.
Warnings
- Don't make your emails too long and involved and giving details of your personal problems is not required. It gives a vibe that you are not confident on what you are relaying.
- If the authority is easy going, don't bug them too much with your emails.
