Corrupt a File on Purpose Using Corrupt a File.Net
Although it is usually an unfortunate event, corrupting a file can sometimes be useful. For example, you have to deliver a document today but it is not ready yet. A solution is to send a corrupted document, pretending it is the completed version. The recipient will not be able to open it, but the computer will appear as the culprit, not you.
Steps
- Produce a document to be corrupted. For example, if you owe a 20 pages report, but your report is only 3 pages long for now, type some additional 17 pages. Keep in mind the final document will be corrupted, so you can type at the keyword randomly or copy/paste the same paragraph again and again. This step makes sure your document has a realistic size.
- Go to Corrupt-a-file.
- In the form, select the document to be corrupted in your hard drive.
- Click the "Corrupt file" button.
- On the next page, click the "Download" link.
- As a test, try to open the document you have just downloaded. The corresponding software (eg. Word, PDF reader...) should indicate the file is damaged.
- The corrupted file is ready to be delivered, by email, USB key, etc.
Warnings
- Keep in mind that delivering a corrupted file, pretending this is a valid file, is dishonest. Although you may find this trick useful once in your life, you should not practice it on a regular basis.
