Create a Makeup Kit With a Fish Tackle Box

A lot of models back in the early to mid 80's used fish and tackle boxes to carry their make-up and other items. It's still a great way to keep your make-up and other accessories well organized. You don't have to be a model to enjoy this idea!

Steps

  1. Search for a fish and tackle box that is deep and that has lots of slots in it. Now some may find that the color is of importance too. A lot of tackle boxes only come in your basic brown or dark green colors. But not to worry, for there will be tips to get past the not so colorful tackle box later.
  2. Label or personalize your tackle box that personal touch by applying your name, nickname, and/ or initials.
  3. Get down to the "brass tacks" on getting that tackle box in order. Naturally, women need to have on hand cotton balls, and Q-tips are nice, too. But it is best to have them contained. Therefore, head down to a nearby dollar store. They normally sell tiny clear plastic containers that would easily fit in your tackle box. And it will keep the cotton balls clean, too.
  4. Find a place for everything. If you make a wise decision on the tackle box purchase, there should be no problem organizing your make-up. The wider slots are needed for the blush. And the long slots will hold make-up brushes, etc. All the small size eye shadows will fit just right into certain spaces. Foundation and loose powder will fit right inside the bottom of the box.
  5. Put eye tweezers, nail clippers and files, brow brushes, etc. in the small to medium size slots. Any lip or brow pencil should fit nicely into certain slots, also.
  6. Carry bobby pins, safety pins, hair accessories, and even a small sewing kit. Most of the items will fit well into slots. And one never knows what event may arise that those items will come in handy.
  7. Add to the tackle box a (small to medium size) handheld mirror, combs, a small hairbrush, and even a curling iron.
  8. Pack the extras like eye make-up remover and hand cream. Even Dove facial cloths or small travel soaps can be added. It is all up to the individual. However, it is a good idea to make sure that the commonly used items are easy to access.

Tips

  • Someone may choose to carry nail polish in their box. But, if not, as an alternate plan to that, Walgreen's sells some really nice small plastic cases that would work great to organize someone's nail polish, and they also come in some really pretty colors, such as purple. However, they tend to be on the expensive side. That case too can be decorated to fit one's individual taste.
