Deal With Frizzy Hair on Humid Days
Now you can stop dreading your hair frizzing up, and enjoy summer!
Steps
- Get a sulfate free shampoo.
- After shampooing, apply a generous amount of conditioner to hair, avoiding the roots. It is fine to apply what's left on your hands to the roots, but don't put on too much.
- Don't rinse right away. Wash your body, face, shave, and do anything else you need to do in the shower before rinsing the conditioner from your hair so it absorbs as much of the conditioner as possible.
- Use a wide-toothed comb or paddle brush on wet hair. Any other kind of brush will stretch the hair and damage it. This will cause frizz.
- Apply an anti-frizz serum to wet hair. Remember, sulfate free will always fight frizz better than those with sulfates.
- Air-dry hair, or use an plug-in household fan. If you use a fan, keep face about {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} away from the fan, and brush with a paddle brush. Fans create less frizz than blow driers, because they make somewhat of an "air-dome" around your head, and dry it all at once, whereas blow driers put a high amount of concentrated heat onto the hair, which causes frizz.
- Spray de-frizzing hairspray on the bristles of your paddle brush, and brush out the top parts of your head to stop frizz and fly-aways from popping up.
- Enjoy long-lasting, frizz-free hair!
Tips
- DON'T touch hair too much. The oils from your hands and sweat from the day will get on your hair, and the moisture can create frizz. Keep all touching to a minimum.
- If you are having fly-aways or a bad hair-day, DON'T try to smooth it out with water. This is a commonly made mistake, but this will cause your hair to frizz. Again, frizz is created from water!
- Keep hair away from the back of your neck. If you start to sweat, the moisture from the sweat will frizz hair. After all, frizz is created from water.
- Carry a brush, anti-frizz serum, and a travel bottle of hair spray in your bag at all times. If your hair suddenly starts to frizz for some reason, go to the bathroom, and stop it in its tracks with some anti-frizz serum and hairspray. Having a brush with you will help you to apply it evenly, and it will be easier to fix your hairstyle without touching your hair with your hands.
Warnings
- Don't over-due hairspray or anti-frizz serum, especially at the roots. Too much of either one will make your hair look limp and greasy.
- Relax. Don't focus on your hair too much. You're more likely to have frizzy hair and a bad day if you keep worrying and touching it!
