Decide What to Get Someone for Christmas

Can't figure out what to get someone? Have a hard-to-please person to shop for? Want to get a gift for a special somebody, but don't know how to go about it? This article explains exactly how to figure out what to get anyone on earth a Christmas gift. Get started at step one below.

Steps

  1. Pay attention to the person. Of course, this is important. Figure out what they like, and what they don't like.
  2. Notice their favorite things. This could include:
    • Color
    • Hobbies
    • Passions
    • Places they shop
    • Animals
  3. Ask yourself this: have they complained about anything for which you could provide a solution? ("I wish...", "Can't...", "I need..." are great clues to look for.)
  4. Notice their favorite color and metal. What colors of clothes do they wear? Jewelry color?
  5. Do they have a passion? Any hobbies? Be sure to not duplicate anything they already have.
  6. Remember that, if you watch television with that person, take note of the commercials that they pay attention to. What caught their attention in the ad selling them? And also the shows they watch, you could get them a season DVD. Ex: Seinfeld, Season 1, 2, etc.

Tips

  • Create a list of their favorite things; hobbies, colors, styles... etc.
  • Don't wait until last minute to find a gift.
  • Collaborate with friends and family to learn about their desires.
  • If you just can't seem to figure out, get them a gift card to their favorite store!
  • Make a list and carry it with you everywhere.
  • Ask them directly for a list.
  • Shop all year round for them. You never know when you'll find the perfect present.
  • Consider a home-made gift. They will see that you've put more effort into it and really appreciate the gift.

Warnings

  • Gag gifts are only good for the person who can handle a "joke's on them" situation.
  • Snooping is not the way to get an answer. Checking browser history, reading their email, etc.
  • Don't stalk them to find out what they like.
  • If you get an online gift certificate, be sure they have the internet!
