Decorate Your Bedroom with a Rock N Roll Theme

If you're a Do a Rock N Roll on a Skateboard fan, here is what you need to do to make your room look like a hardcore music loft.

Steps

  1. Clear out all of your old stuff.
  2. Paint the walls with a distinct hardcore color, such as red or black. Or, maybe you could have two walls black and two white.
  3. On the main wall paint something that will catch an eye. Try painting some band logos, a guitar, or another rock instrument. What ever takes your fancy!
  4. Get new linens for your bed.
    • Black quilt
    • Red/white pillow cases
    • Striped duvets/sheets (try black and white, or red and black)
  5. Get a lava lamp and put it somewhere it will be seen.
  6. Put a guitar in the corner of the room, if possible. It doesn't have to be a nice one; you can get an old acoustic from a garage sale if you want.
  7. Completely clear off everything hanging on your walls.
  8. Put up lots of posters and pictures of your favorite bands. If you can get hold of some old records and LP's, you can hang those up with thumbtacks, but don't damage rare ones!
  9. Get some old music magazines such as Rolling Stone or Guitar Player and find some cool adds/pictures to put on your walls. If you aren't subscriber to any magazines, there are usually a lot at the front of most music stores that you can take for free.
  10. Put some band stickers on your door and/or around your room. You can usually find some free ones at promotions that underground bands in your area are having.
  11. Have a rock music playing whenever you have friends over. It adds to the ambiance. A stereo is a must.
  12. Crucifixes and crosses add an eerie 'Black Sabbath' kind of feel, hard core rock.
  13. Get a cool pair of sunglasses, sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Tips

  • Don't overdo it. It will look lame if it's too crowded.
  • Be creative, and make it your own.
  • If you're room is small already, try getting mirrors and placing them opposite to your door. This way, when you walk in, the mirrors will make the room feel larger.
  • Avoid painting your room all black; If it's all black then the room will feel really small and cramped.
  • Even if the room is supposed to be everything to do with rock music, painting the ceiling black and adding glow in the dark stars. But if that absolutely has to be music-themed, arrange the stars in the shape of a guitar, any rock instrument, words (like the name of your fave band) or just anything.
  • If you're actually a musician, have some of your gear accessible so you can impress people when they come over.
  • Put in some speakers and a nice stereo system for added effect.
  • If you want you can get some used or new recording equipment. If you are a musician you can record your songs that you make
  • You can get LP frames for not too much money. They protect the records, and make them look awesome!
  • paint song lyrics on the wall.
  • Take out the booklet that comes with the CD, and see if there are any interesting photos you can use.

Warnings

  • Be careful if you don't play an instrument and decide to keep one in there anyway. If someone asks you to play and you don't know how, you WILL look like an idiot.
  • Be careful when you put stickers up. Big decals are usually hard to get off and sometimes peel off the paint.
  • If you live at home, make sure your parents are fine with the idea of a rock room before you start.
