Make Your Room My Chemical Romance Themed
Want to make your room look like something only a die-hard My Chemical Romance fan would create? You've come to the right article then!
Steps
- Get Make a Band Poster. Also try to get individual posters of each band member:
- Gerard Way
- Frank Iero
- Mikey Way
- Ray Toro
- Paint your walls a grey, black or blood red if your parents will let you.
- Get blue tape to make stripes of light grey, red, white or black depending on color you painted your wall and what color you like.
- Get their Cd's if you don't have them:
- I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
- Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
- Life On the Murder Scene
- The Black Parade
- Live and Rare
- The Black Parade is Dead
- Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
- If possible, buy the MCR action figures and put them on display on your dresser or nightstand or whatever flat surface you use to put your things on for everyone to see.
- Get a new cover for your bed; red, black, and grey are all good choices.
- Put down a throw rug of the colors mentioned in step #2.
- Keep your room fairly dark but not so dark you can't see.
- Enjoy your My Chemical Romance themed room.
- Whatever you do, if you're putting stuff on the wall, don't use Superglue or "Sticky fixers" (UK) to tack them up, if you were to use glue it makes the paper stick to your wall, and sticky figures easily remove paint. Don't use pins either, they will damage the walls. Use Blue-Tack or masking tape so you can move things around and not have any trouble if you want to change the theme.
- Don't forget to buy a mcr bed cover from eBay!
- For those of us that don't have easy money just to spare. What I did, is I had this sheet of paper (it was actually the back of a front cardboard cover of a notebook) and I just wrote all my favorite quotes of MCR on it. You can use different colors, preferably black and red since they stick out and are the MCR dominant colors. Just stick it on your wall somewhere. It looks really cool too. For examples you can go to photobucket and find some.
Tips
- Add posters of other MCR related bands on your walls for more variety...examples of bands that toured with my chemical romance: (The Used, Mindless Self Indulgence, Taking Back Sunday, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Saosin, Green Day).
- See if you can find posters of the album covers as well.
- Play their music all the time, if you want to.
- Try putting posters on the ceiling. It looks awesome.
- If you're a total MCR geek (like me) you may want to consider putting up Mindless Self Indulgence posters because that's Gerard's wife's band (Lyn-Z)
- If you can't paint your walls (step two) and its pink or something, at Lowe's or Home Depot (I think Lowe's) you can get these strips of wallpaper-like stickers that are easy to peel on and off.
- You may not like My Chemical Romance forever; don't paint Gerard Way's face on the ceiling.
- Don't just have posters of MCR. Put up some posters of other bands you like, too.
- MCR is currently on the record label Reprise Records, so you probably will want to listen to some music off that label (this includes: Green Day, Oasis, Blink 182, The Used, The B-52's, American Bang, etc.). You don't have to, but Green Day is pretty awesome, and MCR and Green Day are best friends.
- Put Gerard Way's inspiration quotes where you can see them.
Warnings
- Black wall painting might make you depressed. It probably won't, actually. (this is mainly untrue, but emo-ism is very commonly associated with depression and acting as such may result in REAL depression.) Also, a main concern with painting your walls black is that once summer hits, you'll burn to death since black absorbs heat. So if you really want a lot of black in your room, go for black bedding, rugs, curtains, even stripes on the wall. Just be careful!
- Do not do anything without your parent's permission.
- Don't go overboard with posters.
- Don't spend too much money on MCR merchandise or posters.
