Decorate Your School Locker on a Budget
Do you want to have a cool-looking locker that suits your style, but don't have much money to spend? Here are some things to help you!
Steps
- Make sure you will have enough space for your backpack and books.
- Get a mirror to go in your locker On the inside of your door, stick it there. Make sure it'll stay on!
- Get some things out of a magazine and tape them to the inside of your door, but don't use too much tape and put up loads of pictures, unless that's your style or you find it too nice to throw away.
- Get pictures of your friends and boyfriend/girlfriend. You should get some pictures of your friends and tape them up on your door, on the inner side. Only have one picture of your boyfriend/girlfriend. Unless you can handle people thinking you are obsessive!
- Add a sign or stickers to the out side of your locker so you can tell which one is yours!
- Decorate the locker to suit your interests! Stick some pictures of your pets, if you have some, or perhaps of the family members you like, on your locker! It'll make you feel unique and motivated every time you open it. It usually also feels nice when there's something you adore on your locker, not just random magazine pictures you have no clue about! This goes with your favorite scenery, band, painting, animals, etc. That's the good thing about having your own locker!
- Take some ribbons and decorate the outside of your locker. (Be sure your school allows all this)
- You might want to have a whiteboard on your locker (inside), so friends can sign it and you can write down important things, Like: tests, homework, parties - anything at all! Also you can get a magnetic holder so it can hold your phone and much more stuff.
- Have little benders or baskets (locker size) to put things like papers, binders,or other things in there.Be sure to label them.
- Make some decorations at home to hang in your locker. You can make locker signs, doodles, pictures, homemade things, etc.
Tips
- If someone tells you your locker is dorky, ignore them. Who cares what they think? If they're insulting you they don't deserve your attention! Also, decorating was made to suit you and not them.
- Have fun decorating your locker, but also be mindful of organization. A decorated locker is good. An organized locker is good. But a decorated and organized locker is great!
- Be creative and enjoy yourself!
- Another good idea is getting magnet paper. Get a bunch of pictures then print them on the magnet paper. It looks cool and less to deal with when taking everything down during the end of the year.
- Don't copy everything from someone else. Make your locker unique.
- Have a lock on your locker. Some people can appear trustworthy when they really are not.
- Don't tell anyone your locker code!
- Make sure the pictures don't vary too much in size, unless you think you can pull it off without making it look like you spent 2 minutes to decorate your whole locker!
- Use locker shelves that you can buy everywhere. They add so much space to your locker.
- Look around your house for little things you can add to your locker that you may already have! Little things like mini posters, magnets on your fridge, cups that you can decorate for pencils, bins and baskets & more. Also check out the dollar store or five below they have lots of good stuff like bins, shelves, cups, containers, mirrors, magnets, carpets, and all kinds of cool stuff for under $5! Another good tip is to paint a cup that you have and glue on some magnets & you have a little pencil holder! Get creative, you may inspire others!
Warnings
- Make sure that the things that you put up in your locker are allowed to be there - if your school ever does a locker check (which they certainly have the right to) you don't want to be caught with the wrong things in your locker.
- If you put things on the outside door of your locker, be aware that the people around you might rip them off, accidentally or purposely.
- Don't glue the pictures in ways that would make them impossible to remove!
- Don't put pictures up if you think and/or know they can be offensive to others.
- Some schools don't allow you to have anything on the outside of your locker, so be sure to check your school's locker policy.
- Don't be too obsessive and don't spend all your school time on making your locker look good! That can bring up issues.
- Do not put valuables in your locker! Lockers are now being broken into by simply pulling the lock or kicking the door in.
