Do a System Recovery
Your Windows XP computer starting to go wrong? Is it plagued with viruses? Then Read this!
Steps
- Find your recovery CD / DVD that should have come with your computer, and insert it into your CD / DVD drive.
- Restart your computer.
- Press "r" on the first screen you see when you turn on your computer. This should bring up a boot menu, select CD / DVD drive
- Allow for the computer to load the CD / DVD.
- Select "recovery" once it loads. This should give you warnings about you losing everything on your computer.
- Accept the terms and conditions. Once done, it should start the process of recovery.
- Leave your computer until the process is done.
- Start windows and follow the steps of setting up user names and passwords. Voila! You now have a problem / virus free computer.
Tips
- Always scan with anti-malware, anti-virus and anti-spyware software to ensure safety after the recovery.
- If you are unsure about anything, go to a computer shop and ask them for advice.
Warnings
- This process removes everything including work, games and music. It is strongly recommended that you back up your work before doing a recovery
