Do the Color Fusion Magic Trick

The "color fusion" trick is about magically turning a spectator's chosen card to turn blue and then turn back to red. The trick is fully examinable.

Steps

  1. Obtain a red deck of cards. Get a single blue card from another deck.
  2. Find the matching number or character of the blue card in your red deck. For example, if you have a blue Queen of Spades, look for a Queen of Spades in the red deck.
  3. Place the blue card 10 cards down from the top of the red deck.
  4. Place the matching red card in the middle of the deck. Catch a Do a Pinky Break above it. (See "Tips" for explanation.)
  5. Use a standard rifle force to force the card in the middle of the deck to the spectator.
  6. Have the audience member return his or her card to the middle of the deck.
  7. Bring the audience member's chosen card to the top. Use a standard double undercut.
  8. Snap your fingers and spread through the deck until you see the one blue card. Tell the audience member that you have changed the color of his or her chosen card. Pull it out of the deck and have the spectator examine it.
  9. As the audience member is examining it, catch a pinky break below the top card in the deck. Do this while the spectator is examining the card.
  10. Have the audience member return the one blue card to you. Place it face down on top of your pinky break.
  11. Pick up both cards as one (using a double lift) and turn both cards face up on top of the deck.
  12. Peel off the top card, which should seem like the blue card (it's actually the red card), and turn over the deck. Make sure that you turn the deck over at the same time that you peel off the top card, or your audience member will see the face-up double on the top of the deck.
  13. Take the "blue card" (which is actually the red card) and keep it face up so that the spectator doesn't see the red back.
  14. Take whichever card is on the bottom of the deck and turn it over, so that the back is facing up.
  15. Put the "blue card" (actually the red card) on top of the face-down red card.
  16. Bend the 2 cards back and forth a few times, and act as if the red from the red card is imprinted onto the "blue card." Show that the "blue card" is now red.
  17. As the audience member is examining the red card, ditch the bottom card (the actual blue card). Discard it by palming it and slipping it into your pocket as the audience member is examining the card.

Tips

  • A pinky break is the action by which the card magician squares the card deck to make it look like the spectator's card has been lost in the middle of the deck. However, what happens in actual fact is that the card magician marks the place in the deck with his or her pinky finger (your littlest finger). How do you do it? Well, that requires looking at another wikiHow article - Do a Pinky Break.
  • Practice in the mirror multiple times before preforming

Warnings

  • Do not show this trick until you have completely mastered it. That means practicing as much as you can. Get friends and family as testing partners first - you can make mistakes in front of them without worrying.
