Draw a Windmill
Windmills, once a crucial source of energy, still exist in a number of places and can be handy to know how to draw. In this tutorial you learn to draw an old windmill.
Steps
- Draw a rectangle and one oval on top of it. Imagine a football on top of a podium, or a large jellybean next to a bar of chocolate.
- Add three rectangles. Normally they would be sized differently than seen here, but the windmill we're drawing has two shorter, thicker sections and one long, thin rectangle pointing down and to the left.
- Around the main rectangle, draw lines as shown. This will serve to round the top/sides of your windmill's base, making it look more sturdy and realistic.
- Add another rectangle and few small triangles on the right side of the oval. This rectangle is the final blade your windmill will have, and the triangles serve to portray the motor.
- Draw a thick line inside each rectangle. These will increase the their depth/authenticity.
- Draw lines inside of the trapezoidal base. There should be two verticals crossed over by a slightly arcing lower line.
- Add windows and the door. Thicken lines in each of the four rectangles.
- Shade the drawing. Draw clouds, grass, more details to the building, etc. Color your drawing if you wish.
Tips
- Draw lightly in pencil so that you can easily rub out mistakes.
