Dress for Desert Conditions

The clothes you should wear when you visit the desert are not the same when you visit warm places like beaches. You should be as protected as you can from the sun, plants and animals.

Steps

  1. Wear jeans, not skinny jeans, they will give you more protection from nasty plants with spines.
  2. Cover your arms. A long sleeved shirt is a must, cotton will be the best choice, it will protect you from the sun and plants. Try it in light colors.
  3. DonĀ“t forget the hat (wide brim), if you are choosing a baseball cap add a bandana for covering your neck. You can moisture the bandana to cool yourself put it in your head or neck.
  4. Using a tee shirt under the long sleeved shirt will be a good idea if you find a shade you can get rid of the long sleeved shirt and cool yourself and it will help you to regulate transpiration.
  5. Remember the sunglasses.
  6. If it's windy you should be able to attach your hat with a string in order not to lose it.
  7. Wear Sunscreen protection. Remember your ears, lips and hands.
  8. Boots, they can protect you from snakes, spines and heat.
  9. If you are going to spend the night you are going to need warm clothes.
