Dress for a Rave Party
I hear that you're going to one of those rave parties and you don't know what to wear. I guess it's a good thing I'm here then. Read this and then call a friend over because it's more fun to get dressed with a friend.

Steps
- Wear what you're already wearing. You are most likely comfortable in it and you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself.
- Wear a Halloween costume. Halloween is my favorite time of year and I'll give you mad props, especially if you act in character with your costume.
- Wear some clothes from someone else's closet. It will be like new clothes, except free. Bonus points for clothes from at least 3 decades ago.
- Wear something memorable, like a crazy hat or button, each time you go party. That way if you meet people they will remember you and you may become the "crazy hat/button person".
- Wear deodorant/antiperspirant if possible, and scrub your armpits with soap and water if not. A sweltering hot, body odor filled room is not fun.
- Wear what you want. Seriously, just do it. If you want to look like a clone of all the other kids there, go for it. If, on the other hand, you're here because you don't want to look like a clone, then read on.
- Rockabilly. I don't see enough rockabilly people at raves, so maybe you could do it up. Big hair, leather jackets, pin-up girl dresses, polka dots, etc = awesome.
- Make clothing out of non clothing items, such as plastic bags and duct tape. Make an entire outfit out of plants and fake furs, and tell people you are the forest spirit.
- Be a robot - all it takes is aluminum foil, various sized boxes and some glue or tape. If you are creatively inclined you could take your robot costume to the next level with some reflective tape and maybe even some LED lights. Robots rule!
- Dress like it's Christmas and you are the most Christmas-y person out there. Red and green everything, elf shoes & hat, striped socks & suspenders, fur trimmings and gold buttons. This look will have maximum impact in the hot summer months.
- Take a clear umbrella, attach little stringy things to it and bring along a bottle of bubbles; instant jellyfish.
Tips
- Remember that you will be outside traveling to and from the party. In warmer climates this doesn't really matter, but in colder areas be sure to bring warm enough clothing.
- If you're wearing work clothes that smell like ketchup, fry oil, pesticides, cat piss, etc then change first.
- Comfortable shoes are a good idea. Just because your friend can go for 12 hours in {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} heels doesn't mean that you should. Keep your own comfort levels in mind.
Warnings
- Wear layers that you can remove so you don't become overheated.
- Wear clothing that you don't mind getting lost or dirty.
