Drift in Need for Speed Carbon

Playing Need for Speed Carbon and want to drift? There are many ways to accomplish that, but this article will show you one method. This is particularly useful for the Xbox and Xbox 360.

Steps

  1. Go to a speed of at least {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}}.
  2. At a 90-degree turn, use your handbrake and go full throttle.
  3. Let go as you approach the wall and then step on the gas again.

Downhill (Canyon) Drifts

  1. For Canyon Drifts, the car's handling will be largely different as the car slides more going downhill. As a general strategy, release the gas when the car is sliding towards the outside, and pull the e-brake when it slides towards the inside.
    • Pulling the e-brake will cause the car to slide further towards the outside of the track, which also helps the car spin more.
    • Your speed affects the points you gain exponentially.
    • Using NOS will make the car tend to go straight.
  2. Know how the gas pedal will affect your movement. Flooring the gas will cause the car to slide and the car spins at a normal rate. Releasing the gas will cause the car to go to the inside more, and spins at a higher rate.
  3. End your combos. Do not be afraid to hit the walls when ending your combos. You will still get half of the points and the multiplier, so it is always better to hit the sides trying to go fast than drifting like a turtle for the entire course.

Tips

  • Tip good luck and practice.
  • Always use NOS at the beginning of the race to gain a higher initial speed, as well as long straights before you lose the combo multiplier.
  • Don't touch the wall.
  • If you use muscle cars, you must push on the brakes hard to control your car.
  • Always remember, you can "Power-over' in NFS Carbon. Using the Power-Over technique is when you steer into a corner, and then slam on the gas. This causes the rear tires to spin in a drift event or a canyon run. When your back tires start to spin, your car will initiate the drift.

Warnings

  • Keep as close to the rear wall or else...... you'll spin out of control.
